KnoxRaid “KitKat” ROM for AT&T Galaxy Note 3!

knoxraid-rom-att-galaxynote3

For those of you who are still waiting for Samsung/AT&T’s update on Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware for the AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A, your long wait is over as there is a “ported” version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM you can install right now.

KnoxRaid, developed by XDA user Drakeymcmb, is such a custom ROM that brings you all the goodness of KitKat to AT&T Galaxy Note 3 owners (probably many months earlier).   Besides having a full KitKat ROM, you will also benefit from having ZERO AT&T bloatware.

The KnoxRaid ROM comes nearly stock-like KitKat ROM except I find it much faster (compared to other stock KitKat firmwares I have run on other Note 3s) as the performance has been tweaked.  You will also find slight theming and an option to switch themes if you want (see add-ons at the XDA thread).

The only hard part?  It’s the installation.  You will need to basically install this ROM using SafeStrap in your Stock ROM Slot then flash a bunch of files using ODIN.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my current KitKat upgrade on the AT&T Note 3, it’s running pretty smoothly right now.  Plus, this means more KitKat custom ROMs coming soon (actually there some on XDA already) with more customization.  For now, if you are still on Jelly Bean, definitely check it out over the week(end) and do let me know what you think of KitKat!

i would suggest that you re-do all the steps and follow the exact instructions from the below link on the xda forum
    http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577273

If you follow the exact instructions the ROM will be installed with no issues. They also have screenshots for your reference.
Sorry if am not helping you but i followed the exact steps and got the rom installed with no issues

  11. Judd Bonham says:

Everyone please be aware that this dev was banned from XDA for running a scam involving donations. Many were affected and all links on XDA have been removed and the thread closed.

    • paul chan says:

wasn’t scamming.. someone stole his n900a phone.. the community was trying to get him some donations which lead to his ban. I think its a misunderstanding. Its a great rom!~ and very clean!.. I’m planning to donate to him and #hash (dev of safestrap). Do you remember the old days when installing roms were so easy??? no more.. its always a pain now, especially with att note 3. The fact that these guys put there time in to dev these great progs that i know i cant not do. Hats off to them. Thanks again max for showing these great tutorials. Watching them always insures myself that i read the guide right
      .

      • paul says:

guess the guy was really scamming for money. ha. .but believe or not this rom is awesome. everything works out the box. oh well.

  13. jason says:

Is this RIM rooted? If not, can it be rooted by any of the currently available methods? My phone just auto updated to the latest AT&T variant of android 4.4 and I can’t seem to root it using any of the available root methods that I’ve tried

  14. Carlos says:

    Max

My original ATT Note 3 broke and I had to order a new one. The problem is that its KK 4.4.2 CNC2. How do I root it? I don’t think that I can use root de la vega, or can I. I was running X-Note 12 (Kitkat) before but that was when I upgraded from JB to KK. Please help.

    • Ronin says:

You are stuck just like the rest of us
No one can figure it out!

      • Mik says:

If you boot into download / Odin mode (hold power / vol down + home key at boot), and your RP SWERV value has A2 instead of A3, then you can downgrade back to JB. Though chances are if it’s the official KK Rom from ATT, you’re probably out of luck (set at A3).

I upgraded to the leaked version and was able to downgrade back because my SWERV value was A2.

The downgrade procedure is at this XDA thread:

        http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2559715

Note, that after you downgrade, you’ll have uninstall your driver for the phone from Device Manager (Under Universal Serial Bus Controllers) in Windows, otherwise you won’t be able to connect to Odin in download mode afterwards.

Took me two days of research and trial and error to figure all this out. Hope it helps someone.

      • Mik says:

Seriously Max? You didn’t approve my comment on how to downgrade? What gives?

  15. Ronin says:

    Max! I have a question..

What is going on with the AWS bands? Have you found a way to do it for AT&T NC2 kitkat? IHave not read that anyone has been able to do it.

Can you give it a try?

    Thanks!

The mega link is dead. Is there any where else we can download knoxraid v5.6?

  18. Anna says:

The link is broken. Do you have a working link?

    • Mik says:

I have a feeling if you PM one of the people on the XDA thread, they can probably point you to the v5.6 version. If you get a reply, let us know. Also, for the links that are ‘broken’ I noticed if you try 5 or 6 times, eventually you will get a successful download. I’m assuming most of the mirrors don’t have the 5.1 file on their severs anymore from the links above. But, even if you do get a download, the links are for v5.1. It would be ideal if we could all get our hands on v5.6.

      • Eddie says:

Unfortunately it’s not “allowed”. Since the developer (drakeymcmb) has been banned from those forums, it’s not even allowed to talked about him there. Let alone asking for his rom.

  19. Mik says:

That’s a shame, I did hear about what he did, but I wish they’d still allow the ROM to be available. I don’t agree with what he did, but to simply bury the work that so many people seemed to appreciate, just seems like a bit of overkill. But, hey I don’t run the forums and I’m sure rules are in place for a reason. Though, to keep the thread up without allowing access to the files, that’s cruel to the rest of us! 🙂

    • Mik says:

Hmm, since it’ been so hard to find v5.6, I’ll give someone $15 via PayPal for a download link to v5.6. Sometimes Money drives people to be kind. 🙂 If this is against the rules, let me know, I’ll be happy to retract this offer.

  24. Al says:

I’ve installed this rom a while ago and its been working well. My problem now is that I cannot boot into Safestrap recovery. I’ve seen one of more people with this problem. Does anyone have a solution for this issue?

ROM has been running fine for months.
I have Safestrap 3.71″Installed” and Safe System is “Not Active”.
    BusyBox is also installed.
Hit the “Reboot to Recovery” button and receive a prompt “Safestrap has been granted superuser permissions for an interactive shell” then am prompted to “reboot now”.
When I manually reboot (holding power button, selecting restart and further selecting reboot) I simply get the Note 3 splash screen with the custom “unlocked” logo and then blackscreen.
I need to pull the battery or hold down the power button to restart the phone.

I’d appreciate any input on this issue. Thanks a lot for any help.
