KnoxRaid “KitKat” ROM for AT&T Galaxy Note 3!

For those of you who are still waiting for Samsung/AT&T’s update on Android 4.4.2 KitKat firmware for the AT&T Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900A, your long wait is over as there is a “ported” version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat ROM you can install right now.

KnoxRaid, developed by XDA user Drakeymcmb, is such a custom ROM that brings you all the goodness of KitKat to AT&T Galaxy Note 3 owners (probably many months earlier).   Besides having a full KitKat ROM, you will also benefit from having ZERO AT&T bloatware.

The KnoxRaid ROM comes nearly stock-like KitKat ROM except I find it much faster (compared to other stock KitKat firmwares I have run on other Note 3s) as the performance has been tweaked.  You will also find slight theming and an option to switch themes if you want (see add-ons at the XDA thread).

The only hard part?  It’s the installation.  You will need to basically install this ROM using SafeStrap in your Stock ROM Slot then flash a bunch of files using ODIN.

Overall, I am very satisfied with my current KitKat upgrade on the AT&T Note 3, it’s running pretty smoothly right now.  Plus, this means more KitKat custom ROMs coming soon (actually there some on XDA already) with more customization.  For now, if you are still on Jelly Bean, definitely check it out over the week(end) and do let me know what you think of KitKat!

Download this if coming from Jelly Bean ROM

Download this if coming from KitKat ROM (Not AOSP! If you’ve never installed TouchWiz-based KitKat ROM yet, you don’t want this, this is only if you are coming from TouchWiz-based KitKat ROMs such as this one.)

Installing Instructions if coming from Jelly Bean ROM:

To install, use Safestrap to install the Knoxraid ROM zip file in your main Stock ROM Slot.  You may need to do a factory reset (for clean install) so make a backup of everything beforehand!!!   After installing ROM, reboot into Download Mode (there’s a menu in Safestrap for that), then use Odin3 v3.09.exe program inside the “Flash In odin” folder to flash the pit file, AP, BL, and CP files like shown below:

If you are already on KitKat ROM, see “Installation Instructions (Coming from a KitKat Rom)” on XDA here.
