Why would you want to install SM-N9005 ROMs on your T-Mobile or Canadian Note 3?

Well, you have more custom ROMs you can install, WiFi hotspot works out of the box for T-Mobile.  But do note you won’t be able to use WiFi Calling so don’t install SM-N9005 custom ROMs if you use that often.

When I installed N9005 roms on my N900T note 3 they erase the internal storage unless you get rid of a code in the update script in the ROM. Did you ever encounter that problem with installing N9005 ROMs on your N900T note 3?

    • Max Lee says:

That probably won’t happen unless the developer put that code, most custom ROMs don’t do that, they only erase system files. Sometimes your files may be in 0 directory not erase also.

man … installed bobcat rom on my tmobile note 3 and it erased my internal storage… bad news for me cuz i didnt make a backup of my photos…

    • Chris says:

Does it matter that the T-Mobile version is the n900t and the install is for the n9005? I tried it and get through the install, but it keeps popping up with “Unfortunately Samsung Setup Wizard has stopped.

    • Max Lee says:

Yes you still have to do it on Canadian, same thing, Tmo and Canadian Note 3 are 100% compatible.

It might work but you still may have to get data working. I have not tested it yet, let me test it soon and have some results posted.

I’m confused 🙁 Why install a patch referred to as “Android 4.3 Patch) on a 4.4-based ROM?
That is, if I want to install the Bobcat KK ROM on my Canadian Note 3 with the official upgrade to 4.4.2, what is the patch doing?

Im just a little confused. I have a n900t tmobile version. Im planning on installing the latest rom you posted the overclocked 2.79 ghz one. Im required to do this before I try to install thst rom? Im rooted, and have twrp installed already. .. what this does is essentially makes my 900t into a 9005? To allow all roms instead lf just tmobile ones? Still a little new to this. Ive only tried to install cm11 which didnt end up working for some reason. Any information appreciated! Thanks!

    Hey max!

Im currently running a rooted n900t on stock 4.3. This tutorial was a bit confusing, because you contradict yourself.

“Before you try this, you must have the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat bootloader. If you’ve never upgraded to the official KitKat ROM for your Note 3, make sure you do that first. If you are still on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean (never upgraded to Android 4.4.2 firmware), make sure you unroot to Android 4.4.2 using the latest T-Mobile NB4 Android 4.4.2 stock firmware first.”

Is there a difference between upgrading firmware and unrooting to 4.4.2? sorry for the confusion, im still learning XP

When you get to the point of installation when it asks you what kernel you want to install, because I’m on tmobile and I have to install a kernal in a separate step, should I select one of the kernal just to complete the the rom installation, or should I select none for installation?

  17. Phill says:

Hi Max, these tuts have been fantastic. Followed the root, original rom backup and now thos one to the letter.

However Ive had to revert back my original backup due to the ” Unfortunately Samsung setup wizard has stopped”. I wiped/reinstalled the rom 4 times before restoring. Install works great, bobcat boots up and gets to setup then error loop.
    Any ideas?

Only thing I wasnt sure of was whether you need to install rom, then install gapps before rom boots for first time…

    Any help would be great.

  25. Jay says:

If you want to install these ROMs on the N900T, you will need to make a minor adjustment to a script embedded in the ROM. This change prevents the wiping of your storage.
