For those of you who want to use your locked Galaxy Note 3 on another carrier or want to disable region lock because you bought your Note 3 from overseas, here’s how to unlock SIM and also disable region lock on your Galaxy Note 3.

Step 1. Insert a SIM card that’s not supported by your Note 3.  E.g. I’ve inserted my T-Mobile SIM card onto my AT&T Note 3, now I get a SIM locked window when I start my Note 3.

Step 2. You can go ahead and dismiss the SIM lock window then download the latest version of RegionLock Away app from XDA here.

Step 3. Once downloaded, use My Files (or any file explorer app) to open the downloaded APK file.

You may have to turn on Unknown sources in Settings.

Step 4. Once installed, run the app and choose “Region Unlock”.

Step 5. Once done, hit “Reboot now”.

Once rebooted, you should no longer get SIM lock window asking you to enter a SIM unlock code.  Your Note 3 is now fully unlocked to use any SIM card you want.

Also, if you are using international Note 3 such as SM-N900 or SM-N9005, you should now be able to use it on any region SIM card.

I’ve tested this method to unlock SIM on AT&T and T-Mobile Note 3.  It should also work for any GSM-based Note 3 (any Note 3 with SIM card slot).
