Alliance ROM for Galaxy Note 3!

For this week’s ROM of the Week, check out latest version of Alliance ROM, available for AT&T, T-Mobile, Canadian, SM-N9005, and SM-N900 Note 3 variants.

Based on latest Android 4.4.2 TouchWiz firmware, Alliance ROM brings you a nice level of customization along with modded TouchWiz launcher and 19 different themes to choose from.

Whether you are an experience flasher or just getting into custom ROMing, Alliance ROM is a very good place to start.  Inside you will find the latest S5 Settings UI, fully-working Download Booster, and Alliance ROM Custom Settings.

With ROM Custom Settings, you will be able to customize colors of your status bar, battery, toggles, text, and more along with custom batteries/battery bar.  For Power Menu, you will be able to add Screenshot for easy acess.

Native call recording is also included along with option to auto record all of your incoming/outgoing calls.   For lockscreen, you can also get AOSP lockscreen and ink effects.

For system mods, Alliance ROM will allow you to fully customize your system animations, enable 360 degree rotation, and enable NFC with screen off.  Also tethering is unlocked by default (as it’s an international ROM) for AT&T and T-Mobile users.

If you have T-Mobile, Canadian, or SM-N9005 Note 3, you can overclock your Note 3 up to 2.65Ghz by installing Compulsion kernel.  This may be great for bringing your Note 3 up to speed with latest Galaxy S5 and playing graphic-intensive games.

    Hey Max
Whats your favoret rom so far?
Considering all the apps that are out there is there much benifit to selecting a particular rom? or does it come down to the apps and kernal that you are runing?

    • Max Lee says:

My favorite is BobCat ROM + Compulsion. It’s just more options for the user so whatever ROM you really fall in love with, stick with that. This site just showcases all the of best ROMs (well at least what I think is worth flashing) so you can try them and select the one you like.

Hey there i have a quick question, I have the T-Mobile Note 3 variant and where can i get both the “install Compulsion Kernel, install WiFi fix” links from? Or do i have to change some codes? Thanks

    • Max Lee says:

try this, I think you may have flashed an older JB ROM for your Note 3:

Q: I have installed JB ROM on my AT&T Note 3 and my phone says I have no system or get mount errors!
A: This happens when you install Jelly Bean ROMs on AT&T Note 3 with KitKat bootloader, you can fix the issue by first downgrading your bootloader to Jelly Bean, then re-upgrading bootloader back to KitKat.

      • Robert says:

Hey MAX .. that im sure is good idea but i have no clue how to do it. so far i fallow your instructions. do u have a video on that or a link to fallow ?!?
        thanks so much.

Question: Using Alliance ROM on TMO Galaxy Note 3 Unlocked on AT&T. Installed everything according to your instructions. Under SETTINGS the ROM Customizer and Alliance OTA force close settings. Any idea on how to fix?

  6. kixfan says:

When flashing Alliance ROM on my rooted ATT Note 3 I keep getting the message FAILED E: Unable to open zip file. Error flashing zip.

  7. Tele says:

Not a bad ROM, but when I flashed it, it changed my CWM recovery to TWRP – A bit annoying considering all my backups are done by CWM.

  8. Venkat says:

I have been using this Alliance ROM for over a month now on my note 3, ATT SM-N900A. Its touchwiz interface is fantastic. Tethering is working flawlessly. This is one of main reasons I want to use a custom ROM (have unlimited data plan). Even screen appearance is vivid compared to stock rom. I tried other ROMs, they always have some issue or other like, camera operation getting stuck, sound not working etc. This is the first ROM I was able to use for my daily usage without having to worry about quality. It’s my regular ROM now.

Thank you Max for providing wonderful step by step instructions. Appreciate all your help.

SafeStrap recovery works great too. I have used TWRP on my note 2. By far Safestrap recovery is most elegant and easy to use. I am going to stick with this for a while till something much better comes up for regular usage. Of course with Safestrap I can try a new ROM without much hassle.

I installed Alliance ROM for Galaxy Note 3 ATT everything seemed to go fine till it finished loading apps. then it came up with pin screen. did not have a pin with last rom I tried(Dynamic Kat ROM). I tried the pin I had before I rooted my phone multiple & no luck.

  10. nick says:

Ok..I manage to get the customs setting to work. Have to go to Advance wipe..System / Data , now all working fine. CAnt get back cwm had to learn twrp for now to flash my roms and back far so good.
I din an AnTuTu bench mark for this rom..and i must say it was awesome…35,454..Amazing and Im not event on Compalsion Kernal ..Din even get this much on X note., anyway..will stick to this for the time being..Until X note comes with some thing more outstanding..

I have had the alliance rom installed for about a month now and love it. I have tried different roms and came back to Alliance. Only problems are the Alliance OTA and Rom Customizer both crash everytime I press the buttons. Other than that it is very stable. Thanks for your website it makes my life so much better. Thanks

  16. Klaus says:

Hi. I’ve an AT&T SM-N900A. I followed all all the instructions and loaded – and then the device does not boot. Did formatting/wipe /system a couple of time – no change.
Then tried the Alliance ROM from and this one works. However, this is a 4.3 ROM and I’d like latest 4.4.2. Can you help?

    • Edgar Gomez says:

That is because your bootloader is JB. so you have to install first Knox rom. you will find the instructions about how to do it, in this same website. Just look for Knox Rom…I did it when I just got my ATT galaxy note 3, and I use safestrap with any rom for my phone. Follow the instructions as they are indicated. Read carefully.

  17. Jason truong says:

I just started rooting and flashing custom rom,I’m not a pro,
By far I know if you’re on 4.3 jb you must first install knox rom to
Get Kk BL then flash this rom, I haven’t try out this rom yet btw.

im having this same problem, is there a fix? id like to make use of all the features this rom offers, thanks in advance..

  19. Peter says:

Battery life is horrible with this rom. 84% after 1:23 use, most of it sitting not being used. Back to the stock rom I guess.

  20. jeb says:

I had the same issue as Toby. I installed Alliance on a Note 3 and the first screen that pops up requests a PIN. Not a SIM lock, but, the standard PIN request.

Obviously, I wouldn’t have a PIN since I wiped the device and have a freshly installed ROM on the phone.

Suggestions? Or, just move along to another ROM?

  21. Edgar Gomez says:

Love it. A lot of customizations. I just follow your instructions and that’s it. My phone works perfect. It has been a half day using it, there are no complaints so far. Thanks Max. Since I bought my first Galaxy Note, I have been checking this website. It’s great. then I got my Galaxy note2, and now My galaxy note 3…And every day it’s better. For me this is the best website to visit for Galaxy phones.
Thanks Max…Keep on your hard work to help people like me, we don’t know how to do this, if it is not for good people like you.

  22. Edgar Gomez says:

I am using an AT&T Galaxy Note 3, rooted the way that Max taught. I am coming from Rom 5S ported, which I used it from this website too. And again excellent, no problems, but I prefer the first version that the later one.

  23. AO says:

Whats up Max. quick question for you. my co worker wants me to flash this Alliance rom to his note 3. the only problem im running into is that the phone he is using was originally a tmobile phone. he has currently flashed it to AT&T, and is using their service now. Would i use the AT&T download or the Tmobile download.

    • Steve aka Hellzz Ratt says:

use t-mobile mods, the network unlock will carry over to the new rom, ive done several of them and they work fabulously..

Help. I’ve been flashing roms for awhile now and i’ve had problems here and there. But nothing I couldn’t fix with stock firmware and Odin. I have broken 6 Note 3 AT&T and now even my insurance has dropped me for a year. well here is my problem. I have alot of roms “by the way Thanks for all the fun” I was on the Alliance rom and downloaded I believe the build 30. Not reading, was probably my mistake. Flashed it on safestrap….. That was it!!!! No power no vibration I’ve charged it made a led hook-up to drain it. Would you say that it is broke and buy another one or have you heard of this problem before? Owning 2 Note 4’s from AT&T just isn’t as much fun as a rooted Note 3. I would be thankfull for any HELP.

I installed the alliance rom on my N9005. but in my alliance manager i don’t have any themes

    • kixfan says:

Go to your sd card and find the Alliance folder and delete it. Then open Alliance Manager .. it will rebuild the folder. Then you will be able to find the themes and load them.
