For this week’s Sprint Galaxy Note 3 SM-N900P ROM of the Week, check out Bonsai ROM.
Based on latest MJ4 Sprint firmware, Bonsai ROM seems to be aimed at those who want stock ROM but with much added performance/battery life and features.
Out of the box, Bonsai ROM supports 3G/4G LTE wifi tethering so you don’t have to mess with flashing any files, just turn it on and forget it. Other nifty features include the inclusion of Note 3 basic apps like Pen Window Manager and Multi-Window Manager so you can open any apps for multi-tasking on the go.
For audio, Bonsai ROM comes loaded with Viper4Android MOD, which allows you to fully tweak the audio settings beyond basic equalizer functions. Click here for demo of Viper4Android MOD. SoundBoost MOD is also on-board, making your phone speaker sound loud.
For performance, Bonsai ROM ships with Lean Kernel, which allows overclocking up to 2.726Ghz! To control CPU precisely, the ROM also comes with its own CPU app, CPU Adjuster. You can use CPU Adjuster app to only overclock when you really need it such as playing graphic-intensive games. By using this app carefully, you will be able to get near 30% of performance boost just when you need it and also save battery life by under-clocking on non-intensive apps.
For camera, you will get two cameras, Android 4.3 PhotoSphere camera along with Note 3 camera in addition to extra Gallery app (for viewing your PhotoSphere photos).
Overall, Bonsai ROM provides a good balance of performance, features, all the while keeping the Sprint firmware base in-tact. This is certainly a great ROM for those of you new to custom ROMing and if you are looking to enhance your stock experience a bit.
Definitely give it a try over the week(end) and do let me know what you think!
